Quand le rock rencontre l’esprit de la savane

vers une transe punk-animiste

Un grand écart entre deux cultures musicales aux antipodes. Un guitariste-chanteur de punk rock français et un percussionniste-chanteur traditionnel africain, liés par une amitié fraternelle après 25 ans d’aventures musicales et de voyages entre l’Afrique et l’Europe, depuis la création du Yelemba d’Abidjan (1995) et celle du groupe Akeikoi (2000).

Un son qui semble remonter du fond des âges et où se mêlent les chants incantatoires des initiés du poro (initiation traditionnelle sénoufo) et les chants français, anglais. Une alchimie de guitares rock aux accents sahéliens et de percussions à peaux et cordes comme le boloye, instrument sacré traditionnel rarement entendu.

​A great divide between two musical cultures on opposite sides of the world. A French punk rock guitarist-singer and a traditional African percussionist-singer, linked by a fraternal friendship after 25 years of musical adventures and travelling between Africa and Europe, since the creation of Yelemba d'Abidjan (1995) and the group Akeikoi (2000).

A sound that seems to come from the depths of time, blending the incantatory chants of the poro initiates (traditional Senufo initiation) with French and English songs. An alchemy of rock guitars with Sahelian accents and skin and string percussion like the boloye, a rarely heard traditional sacred instrument.
